The Clearlift technology is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser system that delivers nanosecond and picosecond pulses of high-energy light directly into the tattoo pigment. The wavelength used depends on the ink color being targeted:

• 1064 nm wavelength: Highly effective for darker pigments like black and blue.
• 532 nm wavelength: Targets red, orange, and other warm-toned inks.

The ultra-short pulses create a photoacoustic effect rather than a photothermal one, meaning they shatter pigment particles through rapid light-induced pressure changes without generating excessive heat. This reduces the risk of scarring and allows for treatment of even delicate areas.

Once the pigment particles are broken down into microscopic fragments, the body’s lymphatic system gradually removes them over the following weeks. Multiple sessions are typically required because each pass lightens the tattoo layer by layer, bringing deeper ink to the surface for treatment.
